Atonement

I read the book and it took me forever.  The movie is absolutely beautiful.  The camera folks (cinematographers?) should win an award for the amazing shots in this movie.  The story is gripping and very sad.

If you check out the link below, you will learn about a movie coming out December 7^th called the Golden Compass.  It will star Nicole Kidman and it is being called the anti-Narnia.  The film is based on a series of books which are anti-God, anti-church and anti-religion.  This site will tell you all the details.

I have been trying to make up for a long movie-less period.  With the campaign and teaching I just haven’t had time for movies and I’ve been feeling the void.  So in the last two weeks I have seen-

Somebody came out of church Sunday and said “Gee Teri, I wish you’d tell us what you really think.”  They thought I was blunt in the sermon.  Maybe I was, but only because the scripture was blunt.  That was not an easy sermon for me to preach.  My guess is that it was not easy for some to hear either.

There is some preacher on the East side who was all over the news this past weekend.  He was blasting the plan to put special sinks in the cabdriver’s restroom at the new airport.  These sinks would allow Muslims to wash their feet before prayers.  This is part of their faith tradition.

Every now and then I get frustrated with denominations and begin to think they are outdated and irrelevant.  Then something happens to remind me why I am not just Christian, but Presbyterian.
